Ontario framework

AGCO & iGaming Ontario (iGO)

In Ontario, online casino operators are overseen by the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario (AGCO) and operate under commercial agreements with iGaming Ontario (iGO). This framework sets rules for legality, fairness, responsible gambling, and player protections.

AGCO: Oversight & standards

The AGCO establishes standards and conducts regulatory oversight. Operators must meet requirements covering integrity, security, responsible-gambling messaging, and marketing conduct.

Standards Compliance Integrity

iGO: Commercial & player funds flow

iGaming Ontario enters into agreements with operators and facilitates the legal offering in the province. Players transact with the operator’s Ontario entity under iGO’s framework.

Commercial Authorized Ontario

How you can verify an operator

  1. Look for clear Ontario references (AGCO/iGO) on the operator’s site footer or legal pages.
  2. Check that the URL and brand match what you expect (e.g., Ontario subdomains or localized pages).
  3. Confirm responsible-gambling links and age gating are present and visible.
  4. Review current T&Cs and any province-specific eligibility statements.

If an operator doesn’t plainly indicate Ontario compliance and authorized access, treat that as a red flag.

Outside Ontario

Access varies across provinces and territories. Some listings on our site may be Ontario-only. We label entries (e.g., “Licensed (ON)”) when that’s the case.

Marketing conduct

Marketing must avoid misleading claims, must not target minors, and should keep safer-gambling messaging visible. We follow a plain-language approach and avoid hype.
